Prepare in Advance!
- Participate in fire drills at least once a year.
- Learn the location of fire escape routes.
- Know how to use fire extinguishers.
- Know the location of all extinguishers.

If a fire starts...
- Sound the alarm if you think it is out of your control.
- Immedialty evacuate.
- Call fire department from outside of building.
Only use fire extinguisher if:
- The fire is small and you know how to use the extinguisher.
Removing heat from fire:
- Paper, Clothes and wood are best cooled with water.
- All extinguishers are marked with appropriate uses for certain fire types.
- Never use water on grease, flammable liquid or electrical fires.
Grease Fires:
- Never extinguish a grease fire with water! This will cause the fire to spread.
- If a grease fire occurs inside a pan, slide the lid with oven mitt over pan and turn off the heat. Leave the pan on the stove until it is cool.
